Heritage Fund

We are the largest funder for the UK’s heritage.

Using money raised by National Lottery players, we distribute grants from £10,000 to £10million to support projects across the UK that connect people and communities to their heritage.

We also distribute heritage funding on behalf of the UK and devolved governments.

Heritage can be anything from the past that you value and want to pass on to future generations.
Understanding, valuing and sharing our heritage brings people together, inspires pride in place and supports local economies.

Since we were established in 1994, we've awarded £9.5billion of National Lottery and other funding to 53,000 projects across the UK.

In addition, we provide leadership and support across the heritage sector and advocate for heritage.

Walsall Council

Walsall Council actively champions the borough's cultural sector by collaborating with local grassroots organisations like Walsall Creative Factory CIC to deliver inclusive, community-led art initiatives. Founded by a former manager of the council's creative development team, this non-profit social enterprise operates a dedicated workshop space in The Butts to provide vulnerable residents, teenagers with learning disabilities, and elderly groups with a safe environment to explore their creativity. The council strengthens this impactful grassroots work by integrating Creative Factory projects into the broader regional cultural strategy.
